5 Ways to Reduce Stress
One of the hardest things about recovery, is you have lost your coping mechanism. It’s important to find some healthy ways to cope with life and to de-stress.
1. Meditation
Meditation is a great way to re-center yourself throughout the day, or shut down at the end of the night. There are a lot of free meditation videos on YouTube. My personal favorites are Michael Sealey or Jason Stephenson. They have plenty of different meditations to choose from.
2. Go for a Walk
If you prefer a more active approach, taking a walk can help clear your head. Exercise releases endorphins.
3. Tea
I really love Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea before bed. They have many other choices though. Chamomile is a good choice if you need to relax during the day.
4. Take a Bath
Set up a bath with some Epsom salt, play some soft music and enjoy at least 10 minutes of soak time.
5. Talk with a Friend
Having a support network is extremely important. One of the common denominators of addiction is isolation. Make sure you are reaching out to sober support daily.
